Lesson Title: The Power of Images Podcast

Objective
The student will be able to create a podcast that demonstrates his/her understanding of how images can be manipulated


Methods
Students will participate in lessons in which they will learn the skills necessary to create a podcast.

They will work on individual projects and use peer-coaching techniques to assist each other.

Differentiated instruction techniques are used and students progress at their own pace.

Attention is given to individual learning styles


Interdisciplinary Connections:
This project integrates language arts, health, financial literacy, social studies and technology as well as other areas depending on the topic.

Technology is integrated throughout the project in both gathering and communicating information.

Activities/Assignments:
Step 1: Students write a proposal for their topic to be approved. The proposal must consist of 4-5 sentences and give a idea of what he/she plans to say.

Step 2: Students will write a script.

Step 3: Students will use iMovie to record their voice.

Step 4: Students will search for or create images that communicate the ideas in their script.

Step 5: Students will import pictures from iPhoto and use the Ken Burns effect to add emotional emphasis.

Step 6: Students will add transitions and titles to finish their work.

Optional: Students may use GarageBand to add a music track.

The completed iMovie podcast will be saved as both a large and a small QuickTime movie. The goal is to post the movie on the school website.

Students will be assessed using the podcasting rubric below. They will also be assessed on how they worked through each part of the assignment and behaved in class.
